Youth Groups call for Action on Youth Policy
28 07 2010 Youth groups convened at Ghana's Parliament building last Wednesday to petition government for the implementation of a youth policy. Although Ghana has reached several milestones towards democracy since its independence in 1957, a formal national youth policy has never been adopted.Read more

28 07 2010 Emmanuel Wilson, PNC, GhanaThe People's National Convention (PNC) is a party formed out of  the CPP, the first Ghanaian president's Kwame Nkrumah liberation party. The PNC has its origins in 1992, at the start of Ghana's fourth Republic. The party currently has two members of Parliament. Meski Menang Ia Tetap Bersikap Kritis
18 07 2010 Bermodal 6.291 suara, satu dari 50 tiket ke gedung DPRD Kabupaten Malang telah dikantongi caleg dari Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB), yang juga alumna Sekolah Demokrasi angkatan pertama ini. Sejumlah catatan ketidakberesan pelaksanaan pemilu legislatif masih membekas di benaknya. "Saya pegel, Mbak," ujar Dra. Hj. Khofidah (44) soal pemilu legislatif April silam. Meski telah memastikan satu tiket di kantongnya, Khofidah berjanji untuk tetap bersikap kritis sebagai anggota dewan.Read more
Angka DPS Pilpres Banyuasin Meningkat
18 07 2010 Banyaknya warga yang tidak terdaftar dalam pemilu  legislatif April lalu menjadi pekerjaan tersendiri bagi penyelenggara pemilu. Untuk menyiasati agar hal serupa tidak kembali terjadi dalam pilpres Juli mendatang, KPUD dan Pemerintah Kabupaten Banyuasin menggelar pendataan penduduk yang melibatkan para Kepala Desa, Ketua RT dan Ketua RW. Mereka mendatangi rumah warga untuk melakukan pendataan. Langkah antisipasi ini patut diacungi jempol, karena terbukti ada cukup banyak penambahan pemilih dalam Daftar Pemilih Sementara (DPS), dari hasil Daftar Pemilih Tetap (DPT) pemilu legislatif. Untuk  Panitia Pemilihan Kecamatan Banyuasin III, misalnya, angkanya sangat fantastis, penambahannya mencapai lebih dari seribu DPT pemilu legislatif.Read more
Tak Dibayar Tak Jadi Soal
18 07 2010 Di tengah hiruk-pikuk koalisi partai dan tarik ulur capres-cawapres, sebagian orang tengah melakukan perbaikan Daftar Pemilih Tetap (DPT). Mereka menyambangi rumah warga satu per satu selama beberapa hari. Dua di antara sebagian orang itu adalah Sonto (64) dan Tuangkat (43), dua Ketua Rukun Tetangga (RT) di Desa Gubug Klakah, Kecamatan Poncokusumo, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Mereka mengaku, tidak mendapat imbalan untuk melakukan perbaikan DPT ini. Bagi mereka, ada tidaknya imbalan tak jadi soal, karena memperbaiki DPT adalah bagian dari kewajiban.Read more
